US Capitol Building1) Multimodal Transportation Infrastructure Review

  • Analyzing multimodal transportation systems from the user’s perspective
  • Creating customized in-depth questionnaires and conducting interviews with various types of stakeholders to understand how they use the multimodal transportation system and the issues and bottlenecks they experience
  • Recommending strategies to improve existing facilities, enhance capacity, and improve transit time reliability for freight

  • Providing shipper insights on defining freight corridors for international and domestic freight shipments
  • Leading project teams that are tasked with developing business solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of single or multimodal freight flows

Representative Project Experience for Government Entities

  • Statewide Freight Mobility Study:  As part of the Cambridge Systematics and PB America’s teams, assisted in the development of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s first Statewide Freight /Multimodal Planning Initiative by analyzing data and helping to craft technical reports; creating questionnaires and conducting in-depth interviews of shippers to understand how they use Oregon’s multimodal transportation network; and making recommendations on how the system can be improved to enhance freight mobility
  • Road SignWhite Paper on Global Supply Chain Trends and Primer for Policy Makers on Freight Industry Customer/Service Provider Relationships:  As a subcontractor to Cambridge Systematics, created a white paper for Oregon Department of Transportation’s Freight Masterplan Project that was used to develop work orders in Oregon Department of Transportation’s Statewide Freight /Multimodal Planning Initiative
  • Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council - Clark County Freight Mobility Study:  As part of the David Evans & Associates team, wrote a white paper on the effects global trade and transportation trends have and may have in the future on usage of the multimodal transportation system; and developed shipper and logistics service provider questionnaires and conducted interviews to understand their freight patterns and how bottlenecks in Clark County and multimodal transportation systems issues impact their operations
  • Regional Freight Data Collection Project:  As part of the Cambridge Systematics and David Evans & Associates team, developed a questionnaire and interviewed a wide variety of regional and national motor carriers to understand freight flows in, out and through the Portland region for the Oregon Department of Transportation, Metro, and Port of Portland 
  • Statewide Rail Capacity and Systems Needs Study:  As part of the Cambridge Systematics team, created questionnaires, interviewed rail-dependent shippers and logistics service providers, and developed conclusions for the Washington Department of Transportation to understand freight flows and shipper issues with rail service
  • Expert Panel Project:  Developed content relating to shipper supply chains and multimodal transportation issues and participated on the three-person Expert Panel for the Oregon Transportation Commission Freight Workshop organized by the Oregon Department of Transportation
